Las Vegas Bass Workshop

On a surprisingly warm January weekend a couple of weeks ago, the CCSD joined forces with the Nevada Chapter of ASTA and CSN Cheyenne Campus to host the annual Las Vegas Bass Workshop. The workshop brought students and teachers from all over the district as well as from across the country together for a day of learning, laughter, and to celebrate all things Bass. This years’ guest artist was the incredible David Allen Moore. Mr. Moore’s Recital on Saturday was well received by everyone in attendance and even earned a standing ovation at the end. As for the workshop itself, it kicked off with a very informative group technique classes, taught by many talented bass teachers from around the district as well as many professional bassists. On Saturday, almost 100 students from all around the valley participated in the workshop portion of this event. Courses offered at this workshop included everything from beginning techniques including; set –up and tone production to advanced orchestral literature and solo techniques. Several students participated in the fantastic master class with Mr. Moore. After consuming a tremendous amount of pizza, students were back at there respective classes learning and digesting (no pun intended) all the wonderful knowledge that the brilliant faculty could offer. The workshop ended with another dazzling performance by Mr. Moore.
